I remember when I was young we drove a long, long way
Down to see my grandparents, where we were always welcomed to stay
Saskatchewan's southern prairie, seemed like no man's land to me
Where the sky was so blue and the sun so bright a peaceful place to be
Because the people were so friendly when we left it was hard to part
From the little town they called Big Beaver with the big__, big___ heart

We had so much fun there climbing all the hills
Exploring the caves where the rustler's had counted their bills
I remember later on when my uncle took over the farm
How all of my grandmas' cats sat on her big chair's arms
And I remember going to visit at Aust's local grocery mart
In the little town they called Big Beaver with the big___, big___ heart

Refrain

We went down to the big muddy, and climbed old Castle Butte
And I wondered how those rustlers got away with all their loot
And there were neighbors like the Anderson's who always lent my uncle a hand
And how he visited them for lunch and his stories they would stand
I always figured he didn't like to cook and boy he was smart
To live near a little town called Big Beaver with the big, big___ heart

So there is something I'd like to say to all the people who live there now
There are bigger cities in which you could live and survive somehow
With more prosperity in your life and maybe a big fancy limousine
But if you think real hard you'll know exactly what I mean
When I say to you as Ron helps you fill up your shopping cart
Who'd ever want to leave a little town with such a big, big heart
Who'd ever want to leave a little town with such a big, big heart
