The price of gas is going up taxes are on the rise
I worked these last two weeks and much to my surprise
My check had gotten smaller and my bills had kept going up
If I didn't know better I'd say something was corrupt

It'd drive a man to drink if I were a drinking man
It's taken all I can do just to stand upon this land
I wish you'd come back to lend me your hands
Could it have been that bad as together we did stand?

I'd be in the bar with my friends if I were a drinking man
I'd be drowning out the memory of when I was your man
The day you up and left me my world came crashing down
I don't know what I did and why you're not around

It'd drive a man to drink if I were a drinking man
It's taken all I can do just to stand upon this land
I wish you'd come back to lend me your hands
Could it have been that bad as together we did stand?

When I got up this morning I was running late for work
Both my back and my neck man they did hurt
But I had to get going so I delayed the worst
I didn't have time to shed a tear for how I'd been cursed

It'd drive a man to drink if I were a drinking man
It's taken all I can do just to stand upon this land
I wish you'd come back to lend me your hands
Could it have been that bad as together we did stand?

4 Bar Refrain

As I look out on the horizon I imagine your form
Then I find myself looking down sad and forlorn
With tears in my eyes yeah they've finally found their way
To accompany me on my journey of where I go today

It'd drive a man to drink if I were a drinking man
It's taken all I can do just to stand upon this land
I wish you'd come back to lend me your hands
Could it have been that bad as together we did stand?

It'd drive a man to drink if I were a drinking man
